It’s the first day of qualifications for this years last grand slam, US Open! And we’re of course super excited here at grandzlam.com as it is again that time of the year.
We’ve only just finished the tournament Western and Southern open in Cincinnati where Russian Daniil Medvedev finally took the trophy and his first masters 1000 after ending as the runner-up the last two weeks. Looks like he found himself pretty good at the courts around USA and Canada – maybe he is ready to push away Federer, Djokovic or Nadal from the Grand Slam throne? He showed us this week that he can beat the no. 1 – Djokovic, so it’s definitely going to be interesting.
On the women’s side, Madison Keys won tittle no. 5 after beating Svetlana Kutnezova in straight sets coming from a break down in both of them. It also looks like she is very comfortable in the US haven won both of her tittles this year on home surface!
This week its time for the qualification – who will make it through to the main round will be really interesting to follow, we will update every day and give you some ideas to who you should keep your eyes on
The last preparation tournaments has also started, the WTA is in New York this week and ATP-tournament in Winston-Salem. We will follow closely who will get the last confidence moving on to the Grand Slam.
